The College of New Jersey in Ewing, New Jersey is a medium sized state college with a pretty impressive athletic program. Unfortunately not many people are aware of how great an athletic program they actually have. The college currently offers 20 Division 3 sports, 10 for men and 10 for women. TCNJ ranks first in Division 3 with a total of 70 titles and honors. During the 2006- 2007 academic year, TCNJ competed in 15 different NCAA Division 3 Championships and captured 1 D-3 runner-up finish. The 2nd ranked college in the D-3 division is Kenyon College in Ohio, who only have a total of 62 titles and honors. With these impressive statistics, one might think that athletic games at The College of New Jersey are a big deal and well- attended, however the opposite is actually closer to the truth.
The biggest game of the year, like most colleges, is the Homecoming Football Game. Many students, faculty, and alumni attend this game. However, many do not get any further than the parking lot outside of Lions Stadium for the pre-game celebration. The fan attendance for homecoming weekend is not a clear representation of the amount of students who attend the other regular season football games.
The College of New Jersey has some very impressive teams that have made a name for themselves in the past couple of years. The Men’s baseball team has won the New Jersey State Athletic Conference 3 times in the past 3 years. The Women’s lacrosse team were NCAA National Champions 2 times in the past 3 years to name a few.
With these impressive statistics it is disappointing that so few students actually attend these college sporting events. Perhaps the time of the games interferes with class times too often, or maybe students are just not well informed of where and when games are taking place. Maybe if students knew how impressive their college athletic program was, they would be more active in attending games and rooting their college on. Just because the College of New Jersey is a Division 3 school does not mean that our athletic games cannot have the attendance and support of Division 1 sports. We are number 1 in D-3 records and I think that the student body should be proud of that victory and go out and support their school more often!

Podcast - TCNJ Athletic Program
Here is my podcast about TCNJ's Athletic Program. For some reason the audio player sometimes cuts the piece short and sometimes it doesn't. I attached the text in another post, so you will be able to see if the audio player played the entire piece. Sorry for the confusion, thanks for listening!

Podcast
I will have to create a podcast for my Writing and Announcing for Communication class that I will put on this site. Hopefully I can do this podcast and it sounds good...I believe that I am going to write about the lack of student support in our college sports program.
